Turning life's moments into music

I DROPPED THE BALL

Bartender is there something you can make for me

Make it strong so I’ll forget about a love never to be

After striking out in romance more times than I can recall

Just when I thought I might be winning

That’s the time

I dropped the ball

I met her in the produce aisle of the grocery store

She was picking out some oranges and a few rolled to the floor

I laughed as I helped her to gather them all in

We had a real nice conversation as we put them in the bin

Bartender is there something you can make for me

Make it strong so I’ll forget about a love never to be

After striking out in romance more times than I can recall

Just when I thought I might be winning

That’s the time

I dropped the ball

Talk with her came so easy and I’m not used to that you see

Her smile told me she felt it too, but it was now time to leave

She found a slip of paper and wrote a number down

Saying give me a call if you want to the balls in your court now

My life was looking better now than it ever has before

The next night I would ask her out and hope that there would be more

But looking in my pockets for the number she gave me

All I found was lint and a receipt from Winn-Dixie

Bartender is there something you can make for me

Make it strong so I’ll forget about a love never to be

After striking out in romance more times than I can recall

Just when I thought I might be winning

That’s the time

I dropped the ball

Just when I thought I might be winning

That’s the time

I drop the ball
